M. BASIC CRAZY QUILTING4 TO 5 Days, Fine Art Seminar
Each student will create four crazy quilt squares with the choice of making them into a wall hanging or a larger crazy quilt. Judith will guide you through the crazy quilt basics using the “Montano Center Piece Method” along with colour theories and fabric choices. Upon completion of the blocks, emphasis will be on Victorian stitches, ribbon embroidery and embellishments.

SUPPLIES (Please refer to the basic supplies list also.)
• Sewing machine with neutral thread
• 4 – 12” muslin sqs (look for heavy muslin used in upholstery)
• 16 – 20 fancy fabrics in pastels, dusties or jewel tones.
(no more than 1/3 yd. cuts)
• Choose 1/2 solids and 1/2 prints
• Choose a variety of solids, prints & textures.
• Variety of lace, doilies, medallions, handkerchiefs.
• Variety ribbons - organza, wire, satin
• Silk ribbon, solid & variegates - 4mm, 7mm, and 13mm
• Embroidery threads – metallics, silks, rayon, cotton
(solids and variegates)
• Variety of needles – chenille, tapestry, embroidery, straw,
darner, sharps
• Braids, trims, doodads, buttons and beads.
• Optional: extension cord
